I dressed as the Pout Pout Fish and what could be better than the author Deborah Diesen writing to me on Twitter about it?

We also watercolor painted Pout Pout Fish for our door!

My students enjoyed using this site this week to compose stories.

We read Edwurd Fudwupper Fibbed Big and then students wrote their own stories of a fib and used storybird.com to publish their writing.

Students enjoyed using typingclub.com to practice typing. This site teaches them the appropriate way to sit and place their fingers on the keys to type efficiently. They loved seeing their words per minute after typing and comparing it to each other. First graders are really competitive!

We read If I Ran the Zoo by Dr. Seuss and students made up their own wacky Dr. Seuss inspired animals that they would put in a zoo and wrote about it. Students then used the StoryMaker app to draw and write about what would happen if they ran the zoo.

Great introductory game for addition with counters, making combinations to 5 and 10. 

Another great game to use for addition when you are first introduces the concept. I used it this week! :)

My favorites for the month!

1. Jeans Days- Let's just be honest, jeans days make everything better! Great morale booster, administrators utilize this tool more often. Mine is great about giving away jeans passes.

2. Re-purposing board games for learning- My students are really enjoying playing chutes and ladders while adding and subtracting. I love picking up board games at yard sales and then re-purposing them for my classroom.  Click HERE to see the addition/subtraction cards in my TPT Store. 

3. New Math Apps- We just started our addition subtraction unit, so I have added new apps to the iPad and math station I CAN List. 

I've added the Bugs and Numbers, Bugs and Buttons, Bugs and Buttons 2 and Juicy Math.

These are all perfect for kindergarten.

Listening- The Fall on Netflix, sometimes you just need a good murder mystery show. I love netflix! Binge watching a show all at once is the best!

Loving- my new purchase of a Diamond Foot File by Earth Therapeutics, seriously how did I live without it? It is one of those products where right after you use it, you pick up your phone and tell your sister she has to go buy one. It's like getting a pedicure at home. It is way better than a puma stone!

Thinking- I need to tackle some things on my to do list and I just read a post about how you can write off the Vegas TPT Conference on taxes since it is a business trip, for real? Awesome! I did not go last year, but may need to attend this year. 

Wanting- Breakfast for dinner- yum. I am waiting on my hubs to get home so I can cook it and enjoy. 

Needing- to work out- My school is doing "biggest loser" and I need to work out and loose some weight. I think weather/temperature directly relate to whether or not I work out. If it is warm I have absolutely no problem going outside and jogging with my dogs. If it is cold I just want to sit under a blanket. I don't even want to get on the elliptical in the house! Of course, the above breakfast for dinner probably won't help or the girl scout cookies I bought earlier....sorry Team 1!

Spring Break Plans- We've booked a beach trip to Florida and I can't wait! That's one of the good things about being married to a teacher, you have the same weeks off and can take trips. Warm weather here we come!
