Five For Friday- 10/02/15

As always, I am excited to link up with DoodleBugs Five For Friday

You know the feeling!

Last week was Fall Break and I didn't post a Five for Friday, but I thought I'd include it briefly here. It was so nice to be at the beach in September! The weather was wonderful. It wasn't super hot like it is in the middle of the summer. My sister and her boyfriend were able to join us as well.
Of course, I have to include our group selfie from the beach and a few animal sightings.  :)

This was my first payday for me day at my new school. This is excited because our amazing admins dress up each payday and sing a song to all the teachers. This month's theme was Yabba Dabba Payday!

My students are having so much fun learning about pumpkins. I love how this pumpkin craft turned out. It was eye opening to watch them paint with water colors for the orange on the pumpkin. Some of my students did not understand how it worked and kept claiming that the paint was all dried out and no good. They did not understand that it was supposed to be like that and you had to put water on your brush first to make it work. :)

New Product
Sight Word Checklist HERE
Now that I am teaching first I found myself needing to make new sight word checklists and assessment notebooks. In kindergarten we were learning about 125 words. The list I've made for first grade has 1000 Fry Words. I made one checklist that has ALL 1000 words, yes the font is small, but I like that parents are not waiting on me to send the next list when they feel their child is ready to move on. I don't have time to assess students on sight words each day. I make it a goal to assess each child once a week.

New FREEBIE this week!
"ck" GO FISH
I love using card games in the classroom for learning.

Thanks for listening to my randomness from the week!

Five For Friday! 4/3

Five For Friday 4/3

First off, let's all take a look at what I looked like when I left school this afternoon....

Now we can see what my week before Spring Break looked like....

EGG HUNT
We had an Addition Subtraction Egg Hunt!
My FREEBIE of math problems for the egg hunt is above, just click on the cover of the product.

My students made "Easter Egg Baskets" from K-Cup boxes that I saved up over time. We cut the top off of the boxes and let them paint the box. We then poked holes in the side and attached some ribbon for a handle. We also added their names to the boxes that I printed out on colored paper with Mod Podge.

These are small baskets, but should be perfect for our class egg hunt.

We water color painted flowers and wrote sight words on them to create a "Sight Word Garden" for the hallway.

We have been discussing synonyms and we want to start using more interesting words while writing so this is just the beginning of our Wall Thesaurus.
I love that one student came up with "itty bitty" for little and he was adamant that it should go on the thesaurus because his grandmother says it all the time instead of saying little.

For April Fools Day, Koo Koo Kangaroo added a new video on GoNoodle called Just Kidding. The kids loved this new video and laughed the whole time.

We ended the week with a Field Trip to the PAC (Performance Arts Center) to see one of the high schools in our county perform The Wizard of Oz. It was really great and the perfect way to end the week before Spring Break!

I hope you enjoyed our randomness from the week!

New Milestone!

Woohoo! I just reached a new Milestone of having 200 TPT Followers! I realize this is nothing to some of you out there with thousands of followers, but ya gotta start somewhere!

In celebration, I just added a new FREEBIE to my store.
An Addition Subtraction Egg Hunt!

I use this type of Egg Hunt every year, but I just now made the equations all cute for you (and me of course).
We often have our Egg Hunt in the classroom and I have all the boys go in the hallway while the girls hide the eggs and then once they have found a set amount (10 each) I then have my girls go in the hallway and the boys hide the eggs. They almost like hiding the eggs more than finding them and they giggle the whole time! I love giggles in kindergarten!

I hope you enjoy these cards that you can cut apart and place in plastic Easter eggs to hide. My Dollar Tree had packs of 18 eggs for $1. You could also ask parents to send some in.

Five for Friday- 3/27

Whew what a week!

We started our unit on plants this week and for fun to go along with this we drew faces on the outside of eggshells and then planted some grass seeds. Our little Egg Heads will soon have hair.

I also made a new "Picture of the Day" Product to go with our Plant Unit.
My students have really enjoyed this real life photos and it seems like such a great way to increase vocabulary, speaking and listening skills as well as integrate science into writing.

My husband teaches 7th grade science and sometimes we car pool....not very often. He is a morning person and I NEED my coffee!!!

I am the ELA Innovative Educator for Kindergarten in my county for the 2015 School Year. This week we had our first meeting and they gave us each an iPad mini to use in our classroom. :)

I absolutely love reusing items from around the house. Did I mention that I love coffee? So of course I have a million coffee cans. I made each student a take-home Uh-Oh Sight Word Game to play at home from these old cans and they turned out pretty cute. I will upload this game freebie to TPT next week. It is on my school computer and I'm at home, so you'll have to check back for it.

DONORSCHOOSE ROCKS!
Just in case you did not know. Here are the latest additions to my classroom that are from DonorsChoose Projects that I've written and random companies and kind people have funded them by giving tax deductible donations through the donorschoose website. Make an account! If you don't try, then you definitely won't get one funded.
We now have a tablet charging station and a new classroom rug!

I hope you enjoyed my randomness from the week!
