Five For Friday- 11/13

My favorite link up of the week with DoodleBugs Five For Friday

This week went by so fast!

What "KIND" of Turkey Are You?
For Kindness Week and Thanksgiving we decorated our bulletin board with turkeys made with coffee filters that were colored with markers and then sprayed with water. Students then use popplet to write different ways they could be kind or show kindness.

We have been learning about owls this week during our writing time. Students made a popplet to organize facts about owls and used that to then write an opening sentence, facts and a closing sentence. Students then published their writing using microsoft word. Students also watercolor painted an owl to go with it.

For phonics this week we worked on sorting ending sounds and patterns in words.

We had a wonderful Veteran's Day Assembly at our school this week.

I've said this many times, but DonorsChoose is pretty amazing! I had a chrombook fund this week that I will be able to add to my classroom. OshKosh B'Gosh funded my project. My students are going to be so excited!
Basically if you've not looked into donorschoose.org, you should!

Thanks for listening to my randomness for the week!

Blabberize Pilgrims!

Have you heard of or tried the website blabberize.com? It is such a cool tool to use for students to publish writing or share research information. My students drew a picture of a pilgrim and then "blabberized" the pilgrim. They turned out great and my students were so proud. Here are a couple of their finished projects.

There are so many ways you could use this site for your classroom! When I taught 3rd I had students draw pictures of animals and then share facts and about which habitat/region they lived in. I am always interested in finding fun ways to integrate technology and allow my students to share what they have learned. I was able to upload these blabberized projects to my class website for parents to view as well. How could you use blabberize with your class?

What's New This Week!

I have so much to share from this week in my classroom! First, We created our very first successful QR CODE Bulletin Board. When you scan the QR Codes it connects to a video of each child sharing about what they are thankful for. To make this happen we had to first make videos of each child saying what they were thankful for, then I uploaded the videos onto youtube, I then used QRStuff.com (super user friendly site) to make QR Codes that connect to the youtube videos. So fun!
Also, our classroom door is absolutely ready for Thanksgiving with a Native American ready to say hello to all that enter!
Veterans Day was this week! What did you do with your students? We made our own soldiers using bingo dotters to camo their outfits and then wrote a letter to soldiers thanking them for keeping us safe and loving our country!
Turkey Craft? Do I teach Kindergarten? of course we had to make a turkey craft! This one is so simple, students color a coffee filter using markers and then you spray the coffee filter with a water bottle and let it dry. We also used beans for the eyes and a part or a red pipe cleaner for the waddle.
I also have to share about our Chicken Writing we completed last week after our field trip to the farm. We are currently working on informational writing. I love that they labeled the tail feathers! Kinders are so funny!
I hope you enjoyed viewing our accomplishments for the week! What did you do this week?
